The Tourism Council of Bhutan launched Bhutan - Australia Friendship Offer on 22nd November, 2017. The occasion was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Economic Affairs of Bhutan, the Vice Chairman of Tourism Council of Bhutan, the Director and representatives of Tourism Council of Bhutan, stakeholders and partners of the tourism industry of Bhutan. Her Excellency Ms. Harinder Sidhu, Ambassador of Australia to Bhutan represented Australia at the occasion.
The offer, which is a one-time special package that is being offered only to all nationals of Australia visiting Bhutan, is valid from 1st June 2018 to 31st August 2018. Under this special package, while visitors still need to book their trip through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator, visitors may choose not to pay the all-inclusive mandatory minimum daily package rate of US$ 200 per person per night. Instead, they will pay only the government Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$ 65 per person per night and a one time visa fee of US$ 40. Visitors can avail discounted fare on airlines and also up to 50 % discounts in partnering Hotels. They have flexibility / choice of services. Visitors do not have to pay the surcharge of US$ 40 per person per night and US$ 30 each for two persons.
There will be a special airport reception on arrival of the 1st Group by the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
